December 2024
We have a BIG announcement!
After 8 incredible years of grassroots activism tackling housing inequality in Teton County, we’re thrilled to announce the planned launch of Shelter Wyoming in 2025!
This statewide network will unite pro-housing hubs in Cheyenne, Sheridan, and Laramie (and beyond!) to amplify local voices and tackle housing challenges across Wyoming. We’ve secured seed funding for this expansion, thanks to the hard work of our team and supporters like you.
Don’t worry—ShelterJH will continue its vital work in Teton County, and we’ll need your support to keep it going. Together, we’re building a stronger, more affordable Wyoming!
ShelterJH is a Catalyst Grant awardee!
We are so excited to share that ShelterJH is a 2024 Catalyst Grant awardee through the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole—thank you for supporting our work! We are so excited about what’s to come next year.
We will deploy these funds to plan community-wide educational events for the public exploring the intersection between our housing crisis and other pertinent community issues including immigration, mental health, and traffic. Stay tuned for more in 2025!
Farewell to two of our board members
At the end of this year, we are bidding farewell to our two of our hardworking board members Nikki Kaufman and Kelsey Yarzab.
Like many of our members, Nikki’s involvement with ShelterJH began when she participated in our member photo project pictured here. Since then, Nikki has gone above and beyond for ShelterJH during her board tenure, sharing her expertise on multiple committees, being a steadfast ambassador for our mission, and stepping up as Chair to lead the organization forward.
Kelsey’s collaboration with ShelterJH began as she was part of a Conservation Leadership Institute team eradicating outdated Ordinance 473, which prohibited more than three unrelated people from living in a home together. Kelsey joined ShelterJH as our industrious Policy Chair, diving into critical community issues like 90 Virginian Lane, Northern South Park, and the moratorium.
HUGE thanks to both of them for putting so much effort into their board service; we will miss you!
Thank you for an incredible year!
As we wrap up this year, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our collective work in 2024. While we are as committed as ever to furthering housing justice in Teton County in 2025, we are also heading into next year with a vision and plan for a statewide expansion.
None of this would have been possible without YOU—our incredible supporters, volunteers, donors, and advocates. Your passion and commitment fuel our work, and we are so proud to move the housing justice needle with you!
Here’s to another year of action, progress, and movement-building. Cheers to YOU!
