TRIPLE Matching Campaign through June 7!
It is with great pleasure that I announce that THREE DONORS have stepped up to match donations made to ShelterJH through JUNE 7! Member fees and donations from current members will be TRIPLED! This is a HUGE opportunity and it is a great time to sign up and encourage your friends and neighbors to join our critical movement.
This added funding enables us to increase our staffing and our influence. Then, we will have a better chance to repeal Ordinance 473, to ensure Northern South Park includes a majority of permanently deed-restricted homes for locals, and to establish a real estate transfer tax to fund housing developments. Then, more of your friends, family, and colleagues can stay in this town.
Please donate and get friends to join ASAP—remember, a $20 donation becomes $80 thanks to our determined and generous donors!
ShelterJH members share relevant articles with one another through our member group. I can’t wait until we can all get together in person and share ideas! Until then, here are what our virtual conversations have been about this month:
- Housing reparations in Evanston, IL
- $13 million investment in Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department
- The controversy behind a temporary tent village in Denver, CO
Annual Indicator Report
Every year, an Indicator Report is released to update the community regarding the goals we set in our Comprehensive Plan. This thorough document has all kinds of data that show our progress (or lack thereof) addressing issues including housing, wildlife/vehicle collisions, and development. Check it out here.
Advocate for DACA Recipients
On Thursday, June 3 at 11am, several organizations are gathering on Zoom to discuss a potential effort to galvanize support to change the Housing Department Regulations to open homeownership opportunities to DACA recipients. We’d love to get as many people involved as possible. Join on Zoom here.
Big changes are on the horizon for the Stilson lot. The Teton County Board of Commissioners is planning the future of this area. Housing and conservation go hand-in-hand. Check out our full comment here.
Northern South Park
There have been multiple impressive letters to the editor in the paper recently about the development of Northern South Park. There will be a community workshop with the consultants sometime in June, but the date has not been announced yet. Stay tuned!
