Save the Date!

Have you attended one of our virtual annual member meetings yet? Join us Tuesday, January 11th at 5:30pm to hear updates on our major accomplishments of the year, vote on board offices and new board members, and listen to a report on our financial status. All members are invited and encouraged to participate! Take a moment to copy this Zoom link to your calendar.

Do you know someone who might be a good fit for the ShelterJH Board of Directors? Send us your nominations to info@shelterjh.org by Wednesday, January 5 so we can meet them before the Annual Meeting!

End of Year Donations: Another Matching Campaign!

Our matching campaign was so successful in June that Esther Judge-Lennox (ShelterJH member who founded Shacks on Racks) is generously matching donations through the end of the year! Please remember us as you support your favorite organizations through the end of the year and beyond.

Real Estate Tax

GREAT NEWS: The county option real estate tax bill passed out of the state Revenue Committee this month!  This bill is by no means law yet, but it has never gotten this far in the legislature before. A huge thanks to those who showed up to testify in support of the bill: Town Councilor Arne Jorgensen, Chamber of Commerce President Anna Olson, local Bob McLaurin, and others from across the state! This bill is headed to the budget session as a committee-sponsored bill in February. Stay tuned.

New Staff Member: Blanca Moye

We are proud to announce that Blanca Moye has joined our team as the Bilingual Coordinator. Blanca is from Mexico City and has lived in this region for over 23 years. She is a CPR instructor and a parent educator and has experience working for the Latino Resource Center and the Early Head Start program. She also works for VoicesJH and serves on the Competitive Grant Committee at the Community Foundation. Welcome aboard, Blanca!

Town Council Updates

Last month, the Town Council met to discuss parking requirements and potential zoning updates. We are so proud that ShelterJH members gave passionate public comments to the Councilors. The Councilors directed staff to bring back language for edits to these codes, which is a huge win! Stay tuned for what decisions are made in the new year, and always feel free to share your feedback with your representatives: electedofficials@jacksonwy.gov.
