We are ready to head into election season! The candidate filing period ends on May 27, and then we will start our voter education and endorsement processes.

Share your thoughts on short-term rental regulations!

The Town Planning Commissioners recently considered extending the short-term rental minimum from 30 to 90 days. We cannot build our way out of this crisis: we need to “unlock” existing homes for locals, and minimizing the opportunities for short-term rentals is one step in the right direction. We created a template letter (special thanks to dedicated member Ariel Kazunas!) you can fill out to send to the Commission: send it over now! We’ll be sure to update you when this issue reaches the Town Council.

Northern South Park draft plan released

Last week, the County Planners released the Northern South Park (NSP) draft plan. We are excited that integration of free market, Workforce, and Affordable homes is a priority along with the phased construction of all types of housing. Commercial and residential construction adds more demand for workers. We want to make sure that the NSP development will help us address our housing emergency and not just add fuel to the fire by creating a disproportionate amount of speculative (free-market) homes. You can leave comments online here through May 6.

Legacy Lodge Update

The County Commissioners considered this proposal at their meeting on April 12 and decided to postpone the vote until May 3. We want to see local workers living in this building—you can always share your feedback with Commissioners: commissioners@tetoncountywy.gov.

We heard from you!

Thanks to all of you who filled out our member survey! We heard from you and we will be holding more regular meetings—hopefully in person. Look out for events this summer coming your way. Remember we always want to hear from our members: info@shelterjh.org.
