Legacy Lodge
On June 27, the County Commission held a hearing on the litigation regarding Legacy Lodge. A group of homeowners sued the Teton County Planning Director Chris Neubecker regarding his decision to allow local workers to live in Legacy Lodge. The Commissioners decided to table the decision for now and continue the discussion at a later date. We’ll keep you updated as we hope locals will be able to move into these homes soon.
Northern South Park
The County Commissioners have been considering different ways to require phasing (the development of deed-restricted homes alongside the development of free-market homes), including a “backstop” mechanism if the non-profit organizations (Habitat for Humanity and the Housing Trust) do not build homes at a certain pace. Huge thanks to the Commissioners for their work to make sure that we see deed-restricted homes built there as soon as possible.
SAVE THE DATE: Annual Meeting 7/25 6-7:30pm
Our mid-year member meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at Miller Park from 6-7:30pm! We’ll be discussing Northern South Park, property taxes, the Virginian purchase, and more. As always, food, childcare, and Spanish translation will be provided. We’ll also be having a raffle with prizes from Pinky G’s, REI, and more—we look forward to seeing you there!
Property Tax updates
On June 26, the state Revenue Committee met to talk about property tax reforms. You can watch the meeting here. Two of our local delegates, Representatives Byron and Storer, are on the committee–we’re grateful to have their representation on this important committee. Local columnist (and ShelterJH member) Paul Hansen wrote a great piece in this week’s News and Guide about current property tax relief programs available in Wyoming.
Virginian RV Park
Just in case you couldn’t attend the Virginian RV Park open house that was held on 5/24, the Housing Department prepared a summary and a snapshot of some comments left at the meeting here. We are in the very early stages of this process, and I’d love to hear your thoughts, concerns, and hopes along the way!
