Our candidate endorsements are live!
ShelterJH is endorsing local candidates for the contested races in the primary election—early voting is open now!
Our endorsement process is thorough, so you can be sure that any candidate endorsed by ShelterJH is a dedicated housing champion. In addition to our candidate questionnaire, we also:
- Hosted meetings to get our members’ direct input on candidates
- Incorporated years of vote tracking for incumbent candidates
- Researched candidates’ stances
- Created a detailed rubric for comparison purposes
- Interviewed each candidate individually.
We celebrate anyone who decides to dedicate themselves to public service and run for office. Please read our FULL endorsement announcement here.
Our moratorium suggestions are in!
We’ve been working hard since the moratorium passed to provide direction to our elected officials while they consider updating local regulations to incentivize the kinds of development our community desires. From our perspective, we want to see more access to deed-restricted homes for locals!
We have collaborated with our members and partner organizations to create a (non-exhaustive) list of ideas for land development regulation revisions while we have this unique opportunity the moratorium presents. Check out our full list here.
Habitat Homes available for purchase
The last six homes at Parkside are for sale through Habitat for Humanity! Applications are due by August 23, so be sure to check out this link for more information.
The Parkside Development will be made up of 18 total townhomes. This final Parkside Phase III includes 6 townhomes for sale: four two-bedroom homes and two three-bedroom homes. There are upcoming information nights for those who are curious about the Habitat application process.
Huge thanks to Teton Habitat, the Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department, local elected officials, and taxpayers like YOU for making this new neighborhood possible!
