Virginian Neighborhood in Progress

On September 29, the Town Council and County Commission voted unanimously to extend the development agreement for the Virginian neighborhood, bringing 100% deed-restricted homes one step closer to reality. After the success of 2022 SPET community housing measure to support homes for locals, it’s inspiring to see that public investment pay off. If the public hadn’t purchased this property, it probably would have become another mega-hotel! Instead, local workers, families, and retirees will soon call this neighborhood home.

Stay tuned for updates on the next meeting—we’ll need your voices to show continued community support!

A Vital Community Resource: Flat Creek Apartments

Back in 2022, ShelterJH staff and board members rallied for what would become the Flat Creek Apartments: 48 deed-restricted homes now housing some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Since completion, these homes have provided stability for local workers, families, and seniors who make Jackson Hole run. We stand firmly with our neighbors who live at the Flat Creek Apartments. Every tenant has undergone rigorous verification with the Housing Department, including supplying tax returns, income checks, and employment documentation. The Housing Department complies with strict federal and local standards, and we have full confidence in their selection and compliance processes. We will continue to support elected officials, public staff, and developers who are dedicated to addressing our housing shortage.

Income eligibility for the Flat Creek Apartments:
1 person: $27,960–$55,920

2 people: $31,950–$63,900
3 people: $35,940–$71,880
4 people: $39,930–$79,860

LDR Updates Coming Soon

Town Council recently held a workshop to discuss Land Development Regulation (LDR) updates that could help address our housing shortage. ShelterJH is advocating for policies that make our community more affordable, accessible, and sustainable while supporting our Comprehensive Plan goals to house at least 65% of our workforce locally and protect our ecosystem while doing so. Transit and Housing: The Road to a Livable Jackson

At our recent “Road to Housing” event, Transportation Manager Dr. Charlotte Frei shared how smarter transit planning—like investing in transit alternatives and building homes close to jobs—can reduce traffic, support affordability, and protect the environment. We’ll keep pushing for housing and transportation policies that make life better for locals.
