October 2024
It’s time to vote!
You can vote NOW through November 4 during business hours at 200 S. Willow Street. All you need is an ID—and it doesn’t have to be a Wyoming ID! You can also register and vote on the same day with an ID from any state.
On Election Day, Tuesday November 5, you can vote from 7am-7pm at the Teton County Library, the Recreation Center, Old Wilson Schoolhouse, the Weed & Pest building, and the Alta Library. You can vote at any of these locations regardless of where you live. Don’t forget to screenshot our voter guide above and we’ll see you at the polls!
Upcoming Get Out the Vote events
We are inviting all local housing advocates to help us educate our community on the election. We have two more Get Out the Vote events coming up tonight and on Monday, beginning at 4:30pm.
Wednesday, October 30: door-knocking, meeting at Phil Baux Park at 4:30pm
Monday, November 4: door-knocking, meeting location/time TBD
All are welcome, regardless of your experience level—we provide training for all events! Please RSVP to info@shelterjh.org to get involved with supporting housing this election season.
Save the Date: ShelterJH’s end-of-year celebration!
On Tuesday, December 3, 5:30pm, we are inviting members and supporters to join us at Kalu (140 N. Cache Street) for an end-of-year celebration. We’ll be showing our appreciation for our volunteers, enjoying beverages, celebrating our 2024 wins, and sharing a special announcement. More details to follow.
A minimum of 200 homes coming to 90 Virginian Lane!
HUGE thanks to County Commissioners Wes Gardner, Natalia Macker, and Mark Newcomb along with Town Councilors Hailey Morton-Levinson, Arne Jorgensen, Jim Rooks, and Jonathan Schechter for supporting the drafting of a ground lease for 90 Virginian Lane. Great work! Thank your electeds in an email: commissioners@tetoncountywy.
Once a ground lease is finalized, we’ll be able to create a development agreement that will lay out the specifics of the Virginian Lane neighborhood, from traffic plans to density levels.
We are thrilled that we are one step closer to welcoming neighbors to this area—and especially inspired by YOU, ShelterJH members and community members—who have stayed engaged and held your electeds accountable for seeing this project one step closer to fruition.
We look forward to working together to see this project (and many more!) become a reality.
Housing rules and regulations comment period open now
Every year, the Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department updates the regulations that govern our public deed-restricted housing supply. The staff has made recommendations for updates with guidance from our town and county elected officials. Check out the proposed changes here and get your comments in by November 30!
