May 2026

Election season has officially started! Are you sure that you’re registered to vote? Check your registration here!

Join us on June 10!

We are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, June 10 with six of our civically-minded cohost organizations for an evening of beverages, music from local sensation Outta Shorts, and civic engagement at the Snake River Brewpub. Come hang with neighbors, meet local candidates, register to vote with the Teton County Clerk, and celebrate the start of election season with some joy!

Candidate filing ends

Congratulations to all of the local candidates who filed to run for public office! We look forward to engaging with you throughout election season as we approach the primary on August 18 and the general election on November 3. See you at the polls.

We STILL support the Virginian!

Let’s continue to say YES to homes for locals at the Virginian. The conversation around the Virginian project is ongoing and we’re watching closely for next steps. We expect more clarity when the staff report for the June 15 Town Council meeting is released. We remain focused on the outcome our community needs: homes for locals.

In the meantime, check out this powerful, myth-busting piece written by past and current members of our local public Housing Supply Board.

TCSD celebrates 24 new homes for locals

Huge congratulations to Teton County School District for creating new homes for school employees! Providing stability, reducing housing stress, and housing the people who educate our kids live locally is paramount.

Remember the Specific Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) election in 2022? Thanks to every SPET voter who voted in yes and helped make this project possible! Public investment matters—and these 24 new homes are an example of what we can achieve when we rally public support for deed-restricted homes.

Workforce homes are a part of the solution

While ShelterJH wholly supports Affordable, income-based deed restrictions, we know that not every household in Teton County qualifies—and they may still not be able to rent or own via the free market (did you know the median single-family home price right now is hovering around $5 million?!).

Workforce deed restrictions—which have no occupancy requirement (i.e. a single person can live in a two-bedroom) and require 75% of the household’s income to be earned locally are an essential part of our public housing program. Because deed-restricted homes cannot be vacant, developers may ultimately need to lower rents to fully occupy Workforce homes. Below-market rents are win for our community!

As ShelterJH Executive Director Clare explains in this article, “‘They’re all complimentary programs. Disparaging one for the other assumes that there’s a one size fits all approach, and we know that there’s not.’”

Make sure your housing applications are up to date!

Have you updated your intake form on the Jackson/Teton County Housing Department website? Have you applied for a home through the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust? What about Habitat for Humanity? Make sure your information is up to date so you can apply for upcoming ownership and rental homes!
